Its been a busy year, but it's hard to say everything that's happened...so here's a quick recap...
In January Laurie started to swim at the Wellness Center and now enjoys swimming for exercise on the mornings she can drag herself out of bed at 5.30. It's nice and relaxing and she even has headphones to jam with while doing laps.
In February over Valentine's Day weekend we met our family "half way" for a weekend getaway. We also got to see Ryan, Jennifer and Reagan before Ryan shipped off overseas.
For Easter we traveled back to Illinois. Connor enjoyed the Easter egg hunts and loved shaking the eggs.
In May we had a wedding in Boston, so we kidnapped Nana Smith and took a trip up the coast for the wedding and onto Niagara Falls. It wouldn't be a Bethmann vacation if we hadn't hit all the east coast states possible while there. Then we almost didn't make it back in the country because Jamie lost his passport after getting into Canada. Thankfully Mama Bethmann keeps everything and had a copy of Jamie's birth certificate that we were able to use to get back in the country.
The summer brought a couple weddings and of course the annual Bethmann family vacation. This year we went to Isle of Palms South Carolina. Connor enjoyed spending a whole week with Nana, Papa and Mimi as well as his aunts and uncle and the Irwin clan.
We spent the rest of the summer visiting many of the zoos in the area and parks. Connor loves all the animals.
In September we celebrated CJs 2nd Birthday with our family in Indianapolis. Its so hard to believe it has been 2 years already. Our little man is getting so big. He loves Elmo, so we had an elmo party and went to the zoo.
In October Jamie had surgery to fix his acid reflux problem. 8 weeks and 35 pounds later, he is off his meds and fingers crossed doing well!
Everyone traveled here for Thanksgiving. Even Barb and Tim were able to come so we had their Christmas here at the same time.
Our family is doing well. Laurie's mom is loving retirement and has become quite the crafter these days. Her sister and husband continue to live near Atlanta and welcomed a new addition, Scooby to their family as well as bought a house. Their other dog Ellie is loving the new playmate. Jamie's parents are still in Normal. Jamie's mom is planning retirement in a couple years and his Dad continues to work at State Farm. Dad has become quite the musician and wrote and recorded our own "vacation" song. Jamie's sister is still living in the Chicago area and has started a new job making silver jewelry out of clay. Its really cool and she is loving it!
Jamie is in his 10th year with Allstate. In his free time he is still expanding the Lego village in the basement. he has overtaken much of one side.
Laurie continues at AGMC in the MICU/SICU. In her "free" time she is trying to catch up on scrapbooking and crafting as well as loving being a semi stay at home mommy. She also took a cake decorating class with a friend and enjoys making Elmo and Lego cakes for the recent birthdays.
Connor is 2 1/4 now. He loves Elmo and Mickey Mouse. He enjoys dancing and has recently started to "sing" in church. In his "free" time he enjoys coloring and doing puzzles as well as playing with his friends Kaylee, Logan and Alexis and Dakota. It is amazing how much he is learning. We could probably write a book on all the new things he does everyday.
Daisy and Samson are well also. Daisy will be 6 in April and Samson 4. Talk about time flying! They both Love CJ as much as he loves them. CJ will pet them and say "tickle." He also loves to feed them and will get upset if he doesn't get to carry the food bowl over. They are also loving the 20 some inches of snow we got recently. It is up to their backs in some areas!
Once again our family will travel here for Christmas. The troops will start to come next Tuesday and with the exception of Barb and Tim we will once again all be together over the holidays. We always say how truly blessed we are to have such a wonderful family who all get along. We don't think many people can say that they have joint holidays and family vacations...and still live to talk to each other in the end! We look forward to it.
For a total recap of the year with pictures make sure to visit the rest of this blog. We look forward to hearing from everyone and would love to see you all...so come visit :)
Here's hoping everyone is well and healthy. God Bless you and your family this Christmas Season. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and God's Blessings to you and your family in 2011!
